30b - differentiate the five geographic regions of Georgia including the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ridge and Valley, Appalachian Plateau, Piedmont and Coastal Plain
Georgia has five distinct regions that are all very unique and amazing. these regions are, the blue ridge, the Appalachian plateau, Piedmont, coastal plains and the ridge and valley.
The blue ridge region is a region in the upper north west region of Georgia and is a very rugged and hilly terrain. this area has a very high amount of rainfall. Up to 80 inches or higher can fall in this region. The blue ridge is also very dense in forest and woods. Lastly the blue ridge is home to the highest peak in Georgia Brass-town bald.
The Ridge and valley region is also a very hilly region that is the western most part of the Appalachian mountains. Consists of ridges that run parallel to the valley. Mainly know for its carpentry this is the biggest producer.
The Appalachian plateau is in the north western corner of Georgia and is also called the Cumberland plateau. This region is made up of many limestone mazes and caves. Is called the tag corner because of the states embedded in this area.
The Piedmont region is a region that begins at the foot hills of the north Georgia mountains. This region is where we are right now! this is the region with many cities and counties. Also about half of the states population lives in the Piedmont plateau region.
The coastal plain region is the largest region in Georgia. It has very rich soil and is a great place for farming. This huge region occupies 3/5 of the state! Although the outer coastal plain doesn't have drained soil the vidalia upland has the most sweetest onions.
