32a - analyze the evolution of Native American cultures prior to European contact: Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian
The Paleo people have flourished before Europeans bye having a very basic yet inventive society. Paleo meaning the early people is word that comes from ancient civilizations. The paleo people were nomads and traveled very often for food. Their settlements were very temporary and they never stayed in one place for long. The animals that the paleo people hunted went from mammoths to giants sloths. It is debatable that the paleo people invented the AtlAtl and was used to give more power and accuracy to a spear point when hunting. this weapon was later used in war.

The archaic people were also nomads but they traveled less and created more long term settlements. These people also hunted the same as the paleo, and is also believed that the archaic may have made the atlatl. These people also started using pottery for containing food or other useful items.

The woodland people were the first people to build permanent shelters. these settlements were very large and unique. they consisted of many personal houses, a main structure and a religious structure. Also off to the side the woodland people would have statues dug into the ground that resembled animals. These "statues" would stretch up to 125 feet. this society also was the first to invent and use bow and arrow for occasional hunting. These people were mainly vegetarians and they were horticulturists who occasionally ate meat.

The Mississippian people are similar to the Mississippian people because they built permanent settlements and had the same basic formation. The houses were on the outskirts of the town and there were important buildings in the middle like the center chief house or the "church". They also had the unique structures on the outside of the village. they built mounds that reached up to 40 feet in the air. these mounds had no obvious use but they were believed to be burial mounds.
