Ellipses, Dashes, and Commas
Ellipses, dashes and commas are all used to indicate a pause or a break. An ellipse is used for saving space and getting right to the point with a thought. An ellipse can also be used to continue a thought. An ellipse is indicated by using (...). A dash is used as a pause but is also used for separation of a compound word. Lastly is the comma; this punctuation device is used for a brief pause in a sentence. The comma is also used when listing things.
